Start with a reason

I have taken a break from writing here after I injured my foot and decluttering came to a screeching halt. I am slowly inching back here, and hope to get back to weekly writing here again!

I was just researching tips on the Konmari and other methods for decluttering, and then the idea for this post popped up in my head.
I have picked up decluttering after almost four months of being sedentary. I am tossing away things with ease now, the months of forced sitting on my ass has taught me a lot of what I like and what I don’t.

The fact that it is easy for me now is that I now have a reason. All those months sitting and resting up have shown me what I want.

And I think that is what I needed to have in all the months before, where I just couldn’t get deep enough in my decluttering process, where I struggled so hard to find a balance between what I wanted to keep and toss.

I have my reason now, and that makes all the difference.

What about you? Are you struggling? Are you trying to find a way to declutter but have no idea what?

Sit down first. Sit down and think, let your mind wander. What is your reason?

As for the reason that makes decluttering so easy for me, now… That reason is that I need calm and simplicity to do my best work.

It’s as simple as that. That drives every decision I make while decluttering.

What is your reason?
